CariSec Global Inc. Managing Director – Edward Millington highlighted his pleasure being on the Human Resource Management Association of Barbados Human Tech Expo Conference 2024 esteem panel, where they fellowshipped on emerging technologies such as AI, cloud computing, data analytics, and automation, as well as the risks surrounding using such technologies, especially data assurance and data privacy.

He made an iterative call for a responsible structured approach to the implementation and use of such technologies, including the need for management systems to effectively and efficiently meet corporate strategic goals, cultural development, the development and enhancement of communication channels, corporate awareness at all levels, and continuing monitoring and improvement to achieve corporate strategic goals – driven by the new digitally transformed HR resource. He highlighted that this is needed to look at governance, risk and compliance from a holistic bird’s eye view and not from a silo perspective.

Additionally, he highlighted the need for driven awareness to adhere to international standards like ISO/IEC 27001, ISOI/IEC 27701, ISO/IEC 42001, and others, building compliance throughout operations for a safer and more secure directive in the use of evolving emerging technologies and their services, applications, and processes. Mr Millington also stressed the need for HR to implement standardised HR Management Systems based on the ISO 30414 standard, helping them meet human capital and the business strategic needs.

He also congratulated HRMAB President Nicholas Roberts and his hardworking team for exposing the HR community to emerging technologies in governance, risk, and compliance.
