Caribbean Corporate Governance Institute Governance Week 2025 – Governance in the Age of Generative AI
The Caribbean Corporate Governance Institute’s (CCGI) Governance Week 2025 successfully commenced on June 22, 2025. It continued until Friday, June 27, 2025, with industry leaders, experts, professionals, and academics discussing governance in the age of AI.
Edward Millington, the dynamic Managing Director of CariSec Global Inc., a Managed Security Service Provider, had the exciting opportunity to present and participate in a lively panel discussion with internationally renowned experts in corporate governance. Together, they delved into the vital topic of “Governance of Groups and Conglomerates: Lessons Learned and the Way Forward,” sharing insights and strategies that promise to shape the future of governance in complex organisations. It was a remarkable exchange of ideas that highlighted the importance of effective governance in navigating today’s complex corporate landscape, particularly among groups and conglomerates.

Mr Millington (a strategic and visionary leader; a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Information Security (FCIIS), a Board Advisory, a Certified Senior Lead – ISO 42001 AI Management System Implementer, ISO 27005 Information Security Risk Manager, ISO 27035 Incident Manager – a Certified Chief Information Security Officer) presented on the topic and offering essential strategic advice on the way forward. He highlighted:
“Effectively managing the opportunities and risks associated with AI requires strong governance. This governance should align with stakeholders’ expectations, improve the board’s competence in management and due diligence, and enhance services. Its ultimate goal is to enhance the customer and client experience in service delivery and professional interactions surrounding AI-driven automations and operations.
It is every board’s corporate social responsibility, not only to its corporate social and culture practices, but also to the people it serves. Its stewardship is essential and forms the DNA backbone throughout the group’s vision.“
Mr. Millington also emphasised the importance of a holistic approach to governance in organisations, advancing their maturity in regional organisations to enhance resilience against technological risks.
