Caribbean Digital Forensics & Cybersecurity Summit 2025

Industry Leaders and Government Officials Unite at Summit to Tackle Cybercrime and Strengthen Digital Resilience

[Barbados, Jan 07-08, 2025] – Prominent industry leaders, senior law enforcement officials, and senior government representatives from across multiple sectors convened at the Caribbean’s first Caribbean Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity high-level summit – hosted by Magnet Forensics, Detego Global, Cybervance and Digital Technologies and Services – to address critical issues in cybercrime, cybersecurity, incident management, and digital forensics. The event provided a platform for in-depth discussions on emerging threats, innovative tools, and collaborative strategies to protect digital ecosystems and national security.

Keynote Highlights: Cyber Resilience as a Strategic Imperative
During a pivotal session, Mr. Edward Millington, Managing Director of CariSec Global, delivered compelling insights on governance, risk, and compliance (GRC), emphasising the evolving threat landscape facing businesses today. Mr. Millington underscored the urgent need for organisations to shift their focus from traditional cybersecurity measures to a holistic cyber resilience approach.

“Cyber resilience is no longer optional—it’s a fundamental pillar of operational continuity,” stated Millington. He advocated for a structured Cyber Resilience Strategy Framework, designed to help both private and public sectors achieve cyber resilience maturity and strengthen Digital Operational Resilience (DOR). His presentation outlined actionable steps for organisations to embed resilience into their operational DNA, ensuring preparedness against escalating cyber threats.

A Call to Action: Public-Private Collaboration for a Secure Digital Future
The summit reinforced the importance of cross-sector collaboration in combating cyber threats, with participants aligning on the necessity of proactive risk management, advanced forensic capabilities, and agile incident response protocols. By fostering dialogue between industry experts and policymakers, the event set the stage for actionable strategies to enhance national and organisational cyber defences. This call echoed a recent article submitted by the managing director in the Nation News Paper – Business Section – DOC-20241216-WA0007
